Obeo collaborates with different computer sciences laboratories such as the LINA, Laboratoire d'Informatique de Nantes-Atlantique, CEA List and LIG, Laboratoire Informatique de Grenoble. Obeo is constantly aware of new technologies and also constructs the future innovations.

... to industrial applications

Theoretical research is necessary to design high level innovations but are not quite sufficient to propose industrial quality applications and tools. Fully aware of the real needs of companies, Obeo combine its R&D activities to the pragmatism and efficiency expected by its customers.

Thanks to these collaborations and to the company qualities, Obeo has been chosen by the Atlas team to industrialize the ATL platform, model transformation language and toolkit of the Eclipse M2M project (Model to Model).

Obeo's deep investment in research ensures its customers the warranty of a long term solution integrating the better innovations.

What's an Open Source Software ?

An Open Source software allows the user both to redistribute it and to consult/modify its source code.

Then an Open Source software, compared to an usual software, is like a music score compared to a recorded CD. It offers many advantages for companies :

• licenses costs reduction,
• independence from the software provider,
• ensured continuity of the software thanks to the community,
• possibility to modify the source code in order to adapt it to the user's specific needs.

Well-known examples include Linux, Open Office and the Eclispe platform.

Obeo and the Open Source Community

Obeo believes in the Open Source software since it represents big opportunities for the users. That's why Obeo distribute its Acceleo tool under EPL license. And after a year, the Acceleo community represented more than a thousand members!

Acceleo was developed in the Open Source way of thinking, which means it is based on standards and can be easily adapted to the needs of the customers. Obeo also offers consultancy and training to their customers in order to optimize the Acceleo experience for the user.

Eclipse Foundation and OW2 consortium

Obeo is deeply involved in the Open Source community.

Especially, Obeo has become an active member of the Eclipse Foundation : Obeo has the lead of the EMF Compare project (which is a part of the largest Eclipse modeling project) and six persons of its staff are commiters on the Eclipse platform.

Obeo is also a board member of the OW2 consortium, which is an international consortium about Open Source projects.
